LA County inventory edged up in September — more listings, still a payment market
Los Angeles County buyers got a little more to look at this fall, but the monthly payment still decides most deals.
According to Realtor.com housing-inventory data published through the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED series ACTLISCOU6037), Los Angeles County had 15,374 active single-family and condo/townhome listings in September 2026, up from 15,279 in August. New listings (FRED NEWLISCOU6037) slipped to 5,670 in September from 6,044 in August, so the active count rose even as fewer fresh homes hit the market that month.
For Choice of America clients across Westside, South Bay, and San Gabriel Valley corridors, that usually means slightly more choice on imperfect inventory, not a free-for-all. Clean, well-priced homes in preferred pockets still move; deferred-maintenance listings sit longer. Build your offer from comps and the full monthly stack, mortgage, insurance, and HOA, not from a county headline alone.
