Riverside County Sellers Came Back in September: What 2,910 New Listings Mean for Buyers
New listings jumped to 2,910 in September, up 254 from August, while active inventory held near 7,065.
Riverside County saw a clear burst of new homes for sale in September. According to Realtor.com data published by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED series NEWLISCOU6065), 2,910 homes were newly listed in the county in September 2026, up from 2,656 in August. That is 254 more new listings, an increase of roughly 10 percent in a single month.
Total supply moved much less. Active listings (FRED series ACTLISCOU6065) stood at 7,065 in September, nearly flat from 7,023 in August and still below the 7,436 recorded in June. In plain terms, more sellers are stepping in, but homes are also going under contract at a pace that keeps overall inventory from piling up.
For buyers in Riverside, Temecula, Corona, Murrieta, Menifee, and the Coachella Valley, that mix matters. A wave of fresh listings means more choice in the weeks ahead, and newly listed homes are often priced to meet the current market rather than last spring's expectations. At the same time, steady inventory means well-priced homes in good school areas can still draw multiple offers. Buyers who have their financing in place and know their must-haves will be best positioned to act.
For sellers, the September numbers are a reminder that competition is rising. Listing alongside more neighbors means pricing, presentation, and timing count more than they did over the summer. A home that is ready on day one tends to do better than one that sits while the seller waits to adjust.
